I, too, had a farm in Africa. Except they didn’t make a movie about it!
My farm wasn’t in the Ngong Hills in Kenya but rather in the equally beautiful Mazowe Valley in Zimbabwe. And we didn’t grow coffee; we grew seed maize. Not quite as glamorous, perhaps, but it was always so gratifying to know the seed maize just from our farm that would be planted in the next season by rural farmers would feed upwards of 150,000 people with their staple diet for the whole year.
I grew up in Africa. As anyone who has spent any time at all in Africa will tell you, once Africa is in your soul, it is there forever. It’s always been in mine. For the rest of your life, Africa will always pull you to come back. Whether you’ve been there once, a hundred times or whether you were born there, the draw to return is powerful.
So it is for us at Tasimba. We’re on our way back “into Africa” on our next safari experience that starts on May 12th. Yes, we’re coming home again – and we can’t wait!
It’s not about us
For the next couple of days, we are in Zimbabwe preparing for our guests’ arrival. What we look forward to the most on every trip is to see the joy and the excitement of our guests as, every day of their time here, they become immersed ‘Into Africa’.

When we land at the tiny airstrip in our remote, private concession, so begins a uniquely deep and exclusive immersion into Africa. Our beautiful, luxurious Linkwasha safari camp in the middle of the bush with its wonderful accommodation, food and hospitality will captivate you. Every day here has something new to interest you, to amaze you, to intrigue you and to inspire you.
And every day, you will feel yourself being drawn inexorably ever more deeply into Africa’s warm embrace. And when, too soon, it’s time for you to come ‘out of Africa’, you will leave a part of you behind and take a part of Africa home that will be with you forever.
