At last! We’re going home to Africa!

Where we love is home – home that our feet may leave but not our hearts.

Oliver Wendall Holmes

Ah! the smells of Africa. The sights. The sounds. The warmth. The soul.

We’re going back!

How we have missed Zimbabwe! How we have dreamed of it, longed for it, and imagined it through the penance of our long Covid-enforced absence.

In one-week we’ll finally be back to the country we so love.

We say to our guests on their last night in camp “Africa will always call you to come back home!” For two years, she’s been calling us and now, at last, we’re going home!

Our purpose for this trip is to recreate all the thoughtful and inspiring parts that make our Tasimba safari so unique. We also need to connect with all of the dedicated, amazing people with whom we work there to make our week-long safaris so incredible.

The regional management team, the camp managers, the pro wildlife guides, the conservationists, the communities’ team, our expert visiting guests, and the local artisans who make the crafts we give our guests – we’re meeting with them all over the next two weeks to help us relaunch Tasimba to try to make it even better than it was before!

And we’re going too, to check out all of the Covid safety protocols in the camps, the hotels and the activities that our guests will experience when they are here in 2022. We’re very happy to know that 100% of the safari camp staff and 85% of the entire community of Victoria Falls have been vaccinated – making it one of the safest places on earth to visit!

And, when you think about it, being on safari with us out in open safari vehicles in a vast private wilderness is about as safe as you could ask for anywhere! Just about the only ‘indoors’ you experience is when you’re in the comfort of your own room.

It is so wonderful to be going back and to get ready to welcome our guests in May and October 2022 and in many trips after that. We’ll update you on everything we learn in our visit.

And then, more than anything else, we look forward to bringing our guests back here to this magical place we call our Africa.

Nothing but breathing the air of Africa, and actually walking through it, can communicate the indescribable sensations.

William Burchell (English explorer)
