Doing What’s Really Important
The key is taking responsibility and initiative, deciding what your life is about and prioritizing your life around the most important things.”
– Stephen Covey
Celebrating the arrival of each New Year is a time of fresh hope and optimism for most of us. We share sincere wishes with each other for a wonderful year ahead, and for health, happiness and prosperity. That’s certainly what we at Tasimba wish for all of you – and for ourselves too!
It’s also a time of good intentions – to lose weight, to go the gym more often, to stay better connected with distant friends and family, or to start writing that book. Chances are we had some of those good intentions last new year – and perhaps for a few years before that too!
Tough Lessons
Three years ago, within weeks of another hopeful, optimistic new year, Covid cruelly taught us that there is nothing in life we should take for granted. That was a lesson that put a serious dent in bucket lists for many people. In a highly unpredictable world, why put off doing something that you absolutely want to do? There’s no assurance that the opportunity will still be there later.
At the same time the pandemic taught us that, if we can’t take anything for granted, we should refocus our lives on doing those things that are really important to us.
A New Purpose
When we started Tasimba in 2015, it was to create a totally unique safari focused on all the amazing learning we can get from deep immersion in nature and the wild. The life-changing experiences of our guests were a great testimonial to our success.
During the forced two-year suspension of our safaris, we re-focused Tasimba to a new purpose: to deeply immerse our guests in the inspiration of wildlife, nature and culture to help them redefine what’s really important to them in their lives.
Our motivation is to make the Tasimba week an unforgettable inflection point in our guests’ lives as a time where something changes for them. When we saw the impact that the revamped Tasimba experience had on our guests who were on our safaris in 2022, we felt rewarded that we had fulfilled what we had set out to do. Disconnected from technology and immersed in a pristine, raw wilderness our guests’ have the time to unwind, to reflect and to draw inspiration from the unique people and amazing species all around. Seeing our guests reconnecting with what’s important to them is part of our purpose.
Now we’re preparing for two back-to-back safaris in May 2023, and another in October. And we are planning specially customized Tasimba safaris for families and affinity groups of all kinds.
On all these safaris we look forward to sharing our Tasimba purpose for the lifelong benefit of every one of our guests. That’s what matters most to us.
Don’t wait for a crisis to realize what matters most. Put yourself first right now. Because right now is all we have.”
