Beyond Safari: The Impact of Tasimba
Do you remember the Joni Mitchell song from many years ago with the lyrics
Don’t it always seem to go…That you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone?
Since announcing that 2026 will be Tasimba’s final season, we’ve been struck yet again by how much Tasimba has meant to our guests. What we didn’t know before was the impact we’ve had on the broader safari world.
Now we do.
We’ve been deeply touched by what so many people have reached out and written to us. They’ve told us about the impact that Tasimba has had over the 10 years since our first safari.
We’ve always strived to deliver a truly unique safari experience that has a life-changing impact on every one of our guests. From the very start, our purpose was to inspire people by providing a new lens through which to see themselves and the world in which they live.

Graham Ward – 2025 Simunye Clan Guest
Here’s how our guest Graham Ward from London, UK beautifully captured the essence of what so many other guests have said:
Tasimba is about more than just seeing Africa; it’s about feeling it, understanding it, and learning from it. It’s an experience that stays with you long after departure, changing how you see not only the wilderness but your own life. Tasimba is a journey beyond safari.
From countless wonderful testimonials like this that we’ve received over the years, we’ve consistently been told that we continue to fulfill our purpose on every single trip.
That’s been, and is, deeply rewarding.
What we hadn’t realized was the broader impact Tasimba has had in the safari business. It’s truly been a welcome surprise to learn that our passion to create a safari far out of the ordinary has been recognized more widely than we had dared to hope.
Simon Stobbs, Managing Director, South Africa, of Wilderness Destinations, whose camps we chose for Tasimba and have exclusively used throughout, said:
Aside from the fact that you have put together a fantastic trip with incredible content, what resonates most with me is your alignment with the Wilderness philosophy.
That wasn’t by accident! From day one, we knew that our vision for Tasimba would thrive in the Wilderness culture and ethos.

Garth Thompson with Tasimba – on safari with the Kukura Clan
Here’s what Garth Thompson, one of Africa’s legendary guides for 40 years, wrote:
You won over countless new Wildlife, Africa, Zimbabwe, Hwange and Conservation disciples in the last 10 years, more than any other safari company I have ever come across.
Chris Liebenberg, highly experienced owner of award-winning Africa travel specialists Piper & Heath told us:
The thing I will congratulate you on and admire the most is the uniqueness of the concept. It’s rare these days to find something truly novel, to find anyone with new ideas, and Tasimba is certainly one of a kind.

Graham Simmonds speaking at a Tasimba indaba
Graham Simmonds, now Head of Sales, Europe, UK and Middle East for Wilderness Destinations, wrote us:
Your trips brought a new way we saw safaris. I am sad to know that 2026 will be the last year, but so happy to have been through 10 years together.
Unlike the song, these testimonials make us very happy to know what we’ve got before it’s gone!
The theme we weave through our week-long safaris is to inspire our guests to redefine their purpose in life, and to make their impact in life by fulfilling that purpose. On safari, among the things our guests learn, is about tracking in the wild. And then, in our daily Indaba discussion, we ask them to consider the impact of their tracks, the “footprints” they leave.
We are proud of the impact Tasimba has consistently made. Our deepest hope is that a legacy of Tasimba will continue – both in all our guests’ lives, and in the safari world in which we have been a part.
There are still four unforgettable journeys ahead. Will you be among the last to experience the lifelong Tasimba impact?
2026 is waiting for you!
