Tasimba: A Safari Expert’s Endorsement
My name is Garth Thompson.
I’ve been fortunate to be in the safari industry as a guide for the past 40 years, continuously guiding in Zimbabwe and all over Africa. In that time, I’ve come across many safari operators and tour operators.
The word “unique” is not a word that I much care for because it is probably the most overused word in the safari industry. Unique really means one-of-a-kind, but at the end of the day most safari operations are quite like each other.
I have to say that the Tasimba operation is actually quite unique and certainly something that I haven’t come across before. Most tour operators send their guests out to Africa to be looked after by the safari camps. But Hugh and Heather fly over from North America to be with their guests. Both of them are very attentive to their guests throughout the entire week that they are on safari here in Hwange, Zimbabwe.
Hugh and Heather absolutely go that extra mile in looking after everyone. They bring in speakers like me from all walks of life to spend time on safari with their guests.
And each night in their rooms, their guests receive thoughtful, symbolic gifts of their time in the African wilderness. It really is a safari operation unlike any that I have come across before.
Between them, they are just fantastic people. Hugh really believes in Africa and Zimbabwe, being an ex-Zimbabwean himself, and has incredible passion for the country and for wildlife. Heather is one of the most organized and nicest people I have ever met. They are a great combination and offer a fantastic safari operation.
I’d like to wish them all the very best for the future in ‘spreading the gospel’ of the African wilderness to make their guests great ambassadors who may choose to help conserve the wildlife of Africa for future generations.
