I Am Your Africa
On the last day of your Tasimba safari experience, as you reluctantly board the jeeps that will take you to the airstrip and to the outside world, you are given a farewell card with this written on it. Like just about everybody who has spent time awed by Africa’s vast spaces, inspired by its inhabitants both wild and human, and mesmerized by the wisdom of its nature, you will feel that you are leaving behind, a part of you.
The Africa that touches you is in the warm, spontaneous smiles that greet you every day. It is in the smell of rain on hot, dry earth. It is in the wonder of the tiny newborn elephant safely guarded between its mother’s legs. Africa is the natural beauty of the wilderness unspoiled by man. It is towering clouds in the summer sky and the peace of wondrous sunsets. It is the roar of a magnificent lion calling his pride at twilight, and the lyrical songs of a hundred birds.
In the afternoons, as you sit on the private deck of your luxurious room in camp, you will gaze at the magnificent elephant families drinking at the nearby waterhole. A deep sense of serenity comes over you. As far as the eye can see, animals of every shape and size are peacefully grazing across the rustling grassland. There is no sign or sound of the helter-skelter of our so-called civilized world. The ambience is profound. This is when Africa softly settles into your soul, your mind and your heart.
